Omni Swaddle Sack®

Can I swaddle my baby with their arms up? With SwaddleDesigns Omni Swaddle Sack you can!

The Omni Swaddle Sack® Stage 1 0-3 months

The SwaddleDesigns Omni Swaddle Sack is trusted and used by hospitals across the USA, and is recognized as Hip Healthy by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute.

Every baby has unique sleep preferences that change as they grow and develop.

The Omni Swaddle Sack with Wrap is convertible and designed to provide the most versatility, while providing comfort and support as baby transitions from the womb to the world, and can help baby transition from snug swaddling to arms up swaddling during their first 12 weeks.

The SwaddleDesigns Omni smoothly adapts from a snug newborn swaddle, to one arm out for self-soothing, to both arms out during the ready to rollover transition stage.

The Omni has an ergonomic wrap and a 2-way zipper for easy diaper changes without unswaddling baby’s arms.

The patented half-length sleeves are uniquely shaped and have fold over mitten cuffs that can be worn open or closed. When the mitten cuffs are closed, the sleeves provide partial suppression of the Moro (startle) reflex. The wrap provides swaddle snugness when used over baby’s arms and full suppression of the Moro reflex.

For babies who prefer one arm out when swaddled, the sleeve will help keep baby’s arm warm and the mitten cuff may be worn open or closed. For babies who enjoy sucking on their hand, parents can open one cuff to allow baby to self-soothe. The cuffs may be closed if the caregiver is concerned about facial scratches.

When baby starts showing signs of starting to roll over, no longer place baby’s arms under the wrap. The Omni can continue to be used with arms up and out from under the wrap, and the wrap secured around baby’s chest and tummy. The cuffs may be worn open or closed. The half-length sleeves with mitten cuffs closed provide partial suppression of the Moro (startle) reflex, so baby sleeps better, and if baby rolls over onto tummy, the sleeves allow enough mobility for baby to use their arms to self-reposition, so baby sleeps safer. If the cuffs are open, there will not be any suppression of the Moro reflex, so if your baby still has a strong startle reflex, you may want to choose to keep the cuffs closed.

The Moro reflex usually starts to fade around 4-6 months. This is normal and there is no need to rush baby or struggle with any “cold turkey” techniques to wean baby from the swaddle when they can roll over, because when baby has outgrown the Omni, we offer the SwaddleDesigns Transitional Swaddle Sack in larger sizes -- same style sack with our patented half-length sleeves with fold over mitten cuffs, but with no wrap.
